Educational workshops are alternative training paths to the frontal lecture, becoming a day of training full of stimuli and activities.
The head of educational services in cooperation with the museum staff adapts workshops for different school orders: simpler for kindergarten, more articulated for elementary school, and with more notions for secondary school.
The day is organized in collaboration with teachers, who have the fundamental task of directing the cultural and educational content of the activity. The Museum of the Giara Horse provides the appropriate spaces and instrumentation for the activities, especially those related to recycling, the history of Sardinia and the Giara Horse.
In addition to the workshops at the Giara Horse Museum, we suggest a comprehensive tour involving the whole area: the PARC, the Giara di Gesturi and the Genoni educational farm.
- PaleoLab, educational workshop on paleontology, the work of the paleontologist and fossils
- ArcheoLab, training course on nuragic archaeology
- CartaCiclo, educational activity dedicated to paper recycling
- RecycleOlèOlè, educational workshop on recycling collection
- Pots and textiles, the workshop involves, visiting the old house and then creating or decorating an earthenware dish or making a small tapestry at the loom
- Environmental education, aimed at the discovery of biodiversity
- Two or three-day school camp! See some examples and similar proposals
Educational proposals are designed for Sardinian schools of all levels:
Preschool
Primary school
Secondary school
University
Workshop activities are an integral part of museum life, which can be activated year-round and are also adaptable for families to spend an entire day between culture and nature.
Educational workshops deal with topics related to archaeology and paleontology at PARC, a museum equipped with a large laboratory room. The teaching room adapts to different needs and allows the different educational projects to be carried out; the facility is equipped with the necessary equipment to organize and manage activities with more than 50 children.
Instead, educational workshops on recycling and food education are held at the Civic Museum of the Giara Horse, a smaller but very atmospheric museum facility than PARC, which also has a workshop with the appropriate supports for young scholars to visit.
In case you prefer outdoor trips, some activities, may take place on the Giara Park or in the museum grounds.
Organizing your school trip takes only a few minutes: following a call or email for a request for a quote, we take care of organizing and adapting the educational itinerary to your class, contact the farm by checking availability, and within a few hours finalize the reservation for your educational trip.
Visit the section on operators.

PARC’s museum educational tours for schools and families are also virtual. We offer schools a comprehensive educational path with the help of a video guided tour of the museum and various games to reinforce learning of the topics covered.
In addition, for real little paleontologists we offer a complete proposal with everything needed to make the little paleontologist’s educational laboratory.
Educational workshop for families: the educational activity can also be carried out at home. In addition, several children can carry out the workshop together, for example for a birthday party, or each at their own home.
